Australian National Institute of Higher Education Trust (ABN 20 459 639 129), trading as the Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development ("the Academy", "we", "us"), is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
Account and profile details. Salutation, first and last name, email address, institution, position, telephone number, short biography, areas of expertise, profile photograph, and whether you have asked to be considered as a reviewer.
Submission records. Manuscripts, abstracts, keywords, co-author details you provide, submission category, track, revision history, and the consent confirmations you give at submission.
Review records. Reviewer assignments, scores, comments, annotations and recommendations, and the editorial decisions made on each paper.
Correspondence. Messages sent through the contact form (name, email, organisation and message), and email we exchange with you.
Technical information. Basic server and security logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, used to keep the site running and secure.
We collect information directly from you. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from that service so that we can create your account.
2. Why we collect it
We use personal information to:
- create and administer your account;
- run the submission and double-blind peer review process;
- match papers to reviewers with relevant expertise;
- notify you about submissions, reviews, decisions and deadlines;
- administer conference registration and membership;
- respond to enquiries; and
- maintain the security and integrity of the site, including an audit log of administrative actions.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making about you, and we do not sell personal information.
3. Double-blind review
Peer review at the Academy is double-blind. Manuscripts are de-identified before they are made available to reviewers, and reviewer identities are never disclosed to authors. Feedback from one reviewer is not shown to another reviewer of the same paper. Editors and track chairs can see identifying information where their role requires it.
4. Who we share it with
- Editors, track chairs and reviewers, on a need-to-know basis for the papers they handle.
- Service providers who host the website, the database, file storage and email delivery on our behalf, and who are bound to use the information only for those services.
- Others with your consent, or where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
Some of our service providers store data on servers located outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Security and retention
Access to the portal requires an individual account and password. Manuscripts and profile photographs are held in restricted storage that is not publicly accessible, and access to records in the database is limited by role.
We keep account, submission and review records for as long as they are needed for the conference and publication record, and for a reasonable period afterwards for archival and academic integrity purposes. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry. We destroy or de-identify information when it is no longer required.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.
6. Cookies
The site uses cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and protect the portal; optional cookies are only set if you accept them. See the Cookie Policy for detail and to change your choice.
7. Your rights
You can:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it — most details can be changed yourself in portal settings;
- withdraw consent to optional cookies or to being considered as a reviewer; and
- complain if you believe we have mishandled your information.
To make a request, email office@academyofworldbusiness.com. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Please note that we cannot delete records that form part of the editorial and publication record of a conference, as those must be retained for academic integrity.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version is always published here with the date it took effect.
