However, due to an overwhelming number of late requests, the deadline for the submission of abstracts for the forthcoming August 11-14 AWBMAMD Conference in Dubai has been extended to 10th June.   Abstract submissions must be sent on or before 10th June 2014 directly to the Conference Director – Prof. Gabriel Ogunmokun at ogunmokun@academyofworldbusiness.com who will forward them to appropriate reviewers to be double blind peer reviewed. All accepted abstracts presented at the Conference in Dubai will be published in the Conference Proceedings and also posted online on the Academy of World Business, Marketing and Management Development website.

Managing, Marketing and Financing Organizations in Today’s Environment of Slow Economic Growth

To achieve the best level of performance in today’s environment of slow economic growth, managers must be innovative and competitive. They must be prepared to acquire and utilize multi-dimensional skills that are essential for managing, marketing and  financing organizations successfully. Contemporary research findings and theories presented at this conference will shed light into the policies and strategies that are vital for achieving effective growth and enhance organizational performance. This 6th biennial conference therefore aims to share research knowledge, theories and practice that exist in the world in the areas of business, marketing, finance and management.

Manuscripts for this double blind peer review biennial conference are invited in terms of competitive papers, case studies, research in progress, special sessions, literature review and doctoral research papers in any of the various track areas which include marketing, management, finance, banking, accounting, human resource management, organizational behaviour, information technology, information systems, foreign direct investment, e-business/ e-marketing, criminology/forensic science, education administration, economics, tourism and hospitality, aviation and aerospace, transportation, health care, management of education, entrepreneurship, psychology, public administration, sustainability, international business etc. You can also register to attend the conference as a non-presenter if you choose not to present a paper.

INSTRUCTION FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

1. All Manuscripts should be emailed to (i) Professor Gabriel Ogunmokun, Executive Conference Director/ Program Chair: ogunmokun@academyofworldbusiness.comogunmokun@academyofworldbusiness.org  and (ii) the track chair indicating track number preference(s). Manuscripts will then be sent to be double-blind, peer reviewed.

2. Manuscripts should be without spelling or grammatical errors and conform to the Harvard or American Psychological Association referencing style.

3. Each manuscript should have two covers. The first cover should contain the title, abstract, full authorship, authors’ academic degrees, professional titles, affiliations, postal and email addresses, acknowledgment of research sponsors and assistance. This should then be followed by another cover that only indicates the article title and the abstract (this will be used for anonymous refereeing). This second cover should be followed by the full paper.

4. Manuscripts must not have been previously published or be under simultaneous review elsewhere. You can submit (i) an abstract only paper of least 100 words but not more than one page, or (ii) a proposal/work in progress paper to be no longer than 5 pages, or (iii) a competitive paper but must be no longer than 15 pages or (iv) a literature review paper to be no longer than 15 pages. For every page that is over the specified number of pages, ten Australian dollars (A$10) per page will be charged.

5. Manuscripts should be single spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font, with 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on all four sides, saved as a Word Document.

The TITLE of your paper should be in BOLD capital letters using 12pt Times New Roman font and centered. The author(s) name should also be centered and bold with the name of the author’s University underneath in non-bold letters.

All sub-headings (e.g. ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, METHODOLOGY, FINDINGS, CONCLUSION and REFERENCES) should be in BOLD capital letters using 12pt Times New Roman font.

All tables and figures should be incorporated into the body of the paper and labelled at the top of the figure/table in bold letters. (e.g. Table 1: … or Figure 1: …)

All in-text sources must be recorded in full detail at the end of the paper in a reference list organised alphabetically using a left aligned, hanging indent format.

Publication in the Conference Proceedings: For an accepted paper to be published in the conference proceedings, at least one author will present the paper at the conference and must pre-register as a condition for publication in the proceedings and the copyright will belong to AWBMAMD unless you choose to publish only a one page abstract. The conference registration fee entitles you to present not more than 2 papers that you are one of the authors for. It also covers the Welcome Cocktail Party, Conference proceedings, all Conference sessions, morning and afternoon coffee/tea breaks plus two working lunches, and the Conference Dinner.  The conference proceedings will be supplied to all conference participants and will have an ISBN. As every AWBMAMD conference is of national and international significance because they cover so many important areas, the proceedings will be made available for sale to the general public.

Although papers accepted for presentation as a result of the double-blind, peer review process will be published in the Proceedings (subject to meeting our publication requirements), the publication of the papers is not an endorsement of the content of any of the papers by the Academy. The Academy is not responsible for any claims made in any of the papers accepted for publication in the proceedings. The authors of each of the papers are solely responsible for the content, referencing of their papers, grammar, theories, positions, and terminology, set forth in proceedings. The authors of each of the papers are also responsible for ensuring that manuscripts they have submitted for publication in the proceedings have not been published elsewhere and contain no material previously published or written by another person, except when due reference is made in the text of the paper.

AWARD: There is a “Best Paper” Award. Best competitive papers at the Conference will also be considered to be double-blind reviewed again for possible publication in any of the following double-blind peer refereed journals:

  • International Journal of Business and Marketing (ISSN 1448-9848) – New double blind peer refereed journal.

PRIZES AT THE CONFERENCE : Participants who register and pay registration fee as well as attend the conference dinner have a chance to win a free iPad or eReader through random drawing of tickets. If a number is drawn and the person with the ticket number is not available in the room when the number is drawn, another number will be drawn because the person whose number is drawn must be present to win the prize.  AWBMAMD organizers including  the Program Chair, the Associate Program Chair and the administrative staff of the institution hosting the conference cannot win this prize.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE CONFERENCE?

PRESENTERS: People can attend the Conference if they have submitted a paper which has been double-blind peer reviewed and accepted and if they have paid the registration fee. The registration fee covers the Welcome Cocktail Party, Conference proceedings, all Conference sessions, morning and afternoon coffee/tea breaks plus two working lunches, and the Conference Dinner. Each presenter will receive a Certificate of Participation and will automatically become a member of the Academy for two years.

NON-PRESENTERS: People can also attend the Conference as an observer to listen to the presentations of papers without presenting a paper of their own, if they have paid the registration fee. The registration fee covers the Welcome Cocktail Party, Conference proceedings, all Conference sessions, morning and afternoon coffee/tea breaks plus two working lunches, and the Conference Dinner. Each non-presenter will receive a Certificate of Attendance and can become an affiliated member of the Academy for two years.

CHEAPER HOTELS TO CONSIDER:  Although there are a number of cheaper hotels you can select from in Dubai they are not very close to the Conference hotel.  Whatever hotel you consider staying at, the room rate per night to look for should be the net rate inclusive of 20% taxes, complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi in room.

CANCELLATION OF CONFERENCE REGISTRATION: Any cancellation notification received by the Academy will be subject to the following refund policy:

  • 93% of the amount paid will be refunded if written cancellation is received on or before April 30th 2014
  • No refund if written cancellation is received after the paper has been scheduled for publication in the conference proceedings.
